Me: How long have you been singing?
Lucy: I apparently could sing before I could talk.... so I guess that means 11 years? I started singing formally at 8.
Me: You also play three instruments! Which is your favourite instrument; piano, violin, guitar or singing?
Lucy: My best instrument is the Violin, I like to write songs on the piano, but my favourite instrument is the guitar.
Me: You use all your instruments to create stunning backing tracks to your songs. Have you ever thought of composing your own original instrumental piece?
Lucy: I have composed some random instrumental pieces that sound good without vocals, but I have never told anyone about them :)
Me: I'd love to hear them. You've released a great album called "Just Nine", which I'll tell people how to get at the bottom of this interview. Half of the tracks on there are originals. Do you have a favourite? What inspires you to write your own songs?
Lucy: I don't really have a favourite on that album, but if I had to pick one it would be Sick Of It.
Stuff that happens in life inspires me to write songs, I've only written two songs not about my life.
Me: That's a really catchy track. You've covered a couple of Katie Melua songs on your channel. I love her music. Which artists really inspire you?
Lucy: Artists that really inspire me are: Taylor Swift and Katie Melua because of their musical and songwriting talents, Demi Lovato because she got knocked down, but got back up again, Selena Gomez because of her success, and Christina Grimmie for her likeable personality.
Me: What is your favourite song(or songs)at the moment?
Lucy: My favourite songs right now are Red, Stay Stay Stay, Treacherous and The Lucky One by Taylor Swift :)
Me: Where would you like your music to take you in the future? Are there any goals you'd love to achieve like performing for someone special or hosting your own concert?
Lucy: I'd like music to take me around the world, I'd love to be touring and one day make the American dream...... I'd love to perform for Taylor Swift, Jennette McCurdy or Katie Melua. My main goal is to make music my career.
Me: Your working on a new album right now which I'm really excited to hear. Any clues of any tracks that'll be on there? I'm crossing my fingers for your cover of safe and sound.
Lucy: I can tell you that re-recorded vocals of most of my covers up on YouTube will probably be on the album, as well as four or five originals but I'm not really sure about much else!
Me: Sounds Great! So when your not doing something musical what do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Lucy: I enjoy sports, Minecraft, Chess and hanging out with my friends.
Me: And lastly, is there anything you'd like to say to everyone reading this interview?
Lucy: This is so cool, thanks for reading!
You can buy Lucy's first album Just Nine, by emailing her official channel on Youtube. Highlights include original songs Say Yes, and cover of Katie Melua's Spider's Web, both of which can be listened to on her Youtube channel. Although the audio quality of the recordings are not as clear as in her more recent videos, this album is a great buy, and could one day become a collectible such as Jackie Evancho's Prelude To A Dream.
If you love Lucy's music, don't forget to stop by her channel, subscribe, and share her videos with your friends.
In the meantime, enjoy Lucy's cover of Somebody That I Used To Know.
